The all singing all dancing new climbing wall opened for business on Monday November 7th and has had a great response so far after almost a week of trading.
The general feeling has been 'WOW!!!!'
Its certainly a fantastic facility for the area and both climbers and novices have been enjoying the climbing over the last week, we are massively grateful to Scott and his team from Dream Climbing Walls for creating such a excellent wall.
If you want to give it a try come and join one of our taster sessions or even do an induction course which will then allow you to use the wall without supervision, or if the kids want to give it go then bring them along to the new kids club sessions.
All that needs doing now is to give the whole thing another coat of resin ......an inspiring paint job..... fix a few thousand T-nuts..... attach all the holds.........and create a rubber crumb floor! Simple?
And when all that's done the builders can start on the bouldering wall.

Now that the lighting has been installed in the climbing wall, Scott and his team of builders are working late into the evening to get the new Harlech wall finished as quickly as possible.
The curved section of wall is now in place and the overhanging 'basalt' like columns are really taking shape.
These should be finished in a couple of days.
Meanwhile two of the builders are making a start on the archway leading to the tower.
Fingers crossed...three weeks to completion day.
The steel sub frame for the new climbing wall has been in place for a few weeks now and last Friday the climbing wall team were finally able to get back into the room to start adding the surface panels
The team hope to be finished by the second week in October and then Harlech will have a fantastic climbing wall to play on over the winter.

Exciting times down at the pool!
The new climbing wall is slowly taking shape at Harlech Pool. It's being designed and built by a very innovative climbing wall company Dream Climbing Walls who are keen to show the world what they're capable of....this is great news for Harlech because we will have a fantastic wall with some amazing features.
The Cafe is also shaping up well with the new kitchen almost finished and the terrace completed. It's just waiting for the new windows to go in and a bit of finishing off.
The changing rooms are also having a facelift with new tiling and some reshaping of the space.
Our daytime aquafit classes are so popular we've decided to re-start the aquafit evening class.
So if you want to get some exercise why not give AQUAFIT a try. Our classes are run by qualified and experienced instructors who will help and encourage you to get fit gently and progressively with water resistance exercises in the pool.

Harlech pool is running a lifeguards course between the 21st and 26th of February.
The course is open to any strong swimmer over the age of 16........(there will be a short swimming test before the course starts to determine whether candidates are good enough swimmers)
On successful completion of the course candidates will get a
'Royal Life Saving National Pool Lifeguard Qualification'
which will qualify you to work as a lifeguard anywhere in the UK and in many foreign countries.
Course costs;
£220 for pool members
£285 for non-members
£150 for students (with or without membership)

Well after almost three years of hard work and determination, Harlech Pool was finally handed over to the community on Dec 1st 2010.
Now the hard work really begins because now we have to make the pool pay. The grand plan is to build a climbing wall, a new reception area, a new cafe, and make improvements to the changing rooms.
It all sounds great but it isn't going to happen unless more people use the pool......so good citizens of Harlech and Ardudwy get swimming, you know it makes sense.
